Covenant of the Deep (Krewe Bylaws)

To the Protectors of the Tides,

To ensure our organization moves with the power and unity of the ocean, please find the official bylaws and structural code for the Krewe of the Rising Tides below. These articles serve as our foundation as we prepare to stand watch over the Strand.

Article I: Name & Identity
The organization shall be known as The Krewe of the Rising Tides (hereafter referred to as “The Krewe”).
The Krewe is an artistic, performance-based collective rooted in oceanic mythology, unity, endurance, and creative expression through dance and procession.

Article II: Purpose
The purpose of The Krewe is to:
Foster a creative performance community centered on ocean-inspired storytelling and dance.
Participate in parades, events, and public performances as a unified artistic body.
Promote fellowship, discipline, and artistic excellence among members.
Preserve and embody the mythos of the sea through ritual, regalia, and performance.

Article III: The Lineage
The membership body of The Krewe shall be known collectively as The Lineage.
The Lineage is composed of four (4) distinct roles:
Sirens
Lead performers and living embodiment of the Krewe’s artistic spirit. Sirens serve as the visual and emotional core of performance.
Tritons
Male performers who embody strength, rhythm, and balance within the Krewe. Tritons perform alongside Sirens as protectors of movement and energy.
Krakens
Support and protection members who assist with logistics, safety, transport, and structural needs of performances and events.
Tide Keepers
Stewards and caretakers of the Krewe’s flow, assisting with coordination, preparation, costume readiness, and operational support.

Article IV: The Alliance (Board of Directors)
Sovereignty & The Alliance
The direction of the Krewe is governed by The Alliance (Board of Directors). As the guiding force of the organization, The Alliance oversees all administrative protocols, creative standards, and strategic growth. All final decisions regarding the safety and legacy of the Krewe reside here.

The Alliance shall consist of the following positions:
First Siren (President & Founder)
The First Siren is the founding voice and guiding current of the Krewe. This role oversees all artistic vision, leadership decisions, and final authority in matters of Krewe direction.
The Logkeeper (Secretary)
The Logkeeper records the history, communications, rosters, meeting notes, and official documentation of the Krewe, preserving the story of The Lineage.
Keeper of the Tides (Treasurer)
The Keeper of the Tides manages all financial resources, dues, expenses, and Krewe funds, ensuring balance and sustainability within the Krewe’s flow.

Article V: The Order of the Tides:
Our strength lies in the specialized roles of our members. Each position is a vital component of our collective presence:
Sirens & Tritons: The rhythmic pulse of the deep. These performers lead our movement, embodying the grace and power of the waves.
Krakens: The primary protectors and sentinels. They maintain the perimeter, ensuring the safety of the formation and managing the heavy elements of our presence.
Tide Keepers: The anchors of the organization. They provide the essential support and logistics required to sustain the performers through every surge.

Article VI: The Regalia
All costumes, attire, and performance garments worn by members shall be known collectively as The Regalia. The Regalia represents the identity, artistry, and unity of The Lineage and must be maintained with respect, care, and readiness for performance. Members are responsible for the upkeep, transport, and proper presentation of their assigned Regalia at all Krewe events.

Article VII: The Sustenance (Dues & Attire)
Dues: To maintain our operational readiness, all members contribute annual dues. These funds secure our insurance, parade entries, and the collective resources of the Krewe.
The Uniform: Members are responsible for their own attire, adhering strictly to the Bioluminescent Gothic aesthetic of Black, Deep Teal and Gold, and the protective gear designated for each role. Members are responsible for purchasing their required regalia. Certain required items must be purchased through the Krewe to ensure a consistent appearance:

Sirens: Official bustle skirt – $85
Tritons: Official Hawaiian shirt – $25
Krakens: Official Krewe shirt – $22
Tide Keepers: Official Krewe shirt – $22

All other required uniform items may be purchased from any vendor of the member’s choice, provided they meet the Krewe’s uniform requirements.

Article VIII: Code of Conduct & Performance Standards
The Code of Conduct: “Still Waters” Policy
The Krewe is a sanctuary of mutual respect and shared purpose. We operate under a Still Waters policy—internal conflict and “drama” have no place in our ranks. Any disruption to the unity of the group will be addressed by The Alliance. Actions that threaten the integrity or reputation of the Krewe are grounds for immediate and permanent removal. All members of The Lineage are expected to uphold respect, unity, discipline, and commitment in all Krewe activities.

General Expectations
Maintain respect for all members, leadership, and the public.
Attend rehearsals, meetings, and performances as required.
Follow direction from The Alliance and designated leadership.
Protect the integrity and reputation of The Krewe.
Performance Readiness
All performing members (Sirens and Tritons, as well as any member participating in procession) must maintain physical readiness to fulfill Krewe obligations.
This includes the ability to:
Walk and/or perform continuously for five (5) or more miles
Do so while wearing their assigned Regalia, which may include structured, weighted, or performance-specific attire
Maintain energy, presence, and performance quality throughout extended events
Safely manage costume performance requirements during duration of use.

Article IX: Unity of The Lineage
All members of The Lineage are bound together as one body within The Krewe. Each role is essential, and no function exists independently of the whole. The Sirens, Tritons, Krakens, and Tide Keepers move together as one tide—each current vital to the strength, beauty, and endurance of The Krewe.

Article X: Dissolution
Should the organization ever cease its watch, all remaining assets will be allocated to ocean conservation efforts or handled according to non-profit legal standards.

Article XI: Amendments
These bylaws may be amended by approval of The Alliance, with consideration of the needs, growth, and evolution of The Krewe.
